Without Court Intervention, ECOT to Close in January


​The numbers are in, and for Ohio’s largest online school, they are not pretty.  The embattled ECOT has informed the Ohio Supreme Court that the Ohio Department of Education’s financial “clawbacks” will cause it to close in approximately 4 months, absent court action.

​ECOT has thus requested “emergency relief,” in the form of a temporary stay on the clawback while the case is pending or an expedited schedule in the case.  Otherwise, even a favorable court ruling would come too late for it to even matter.  See its brief here:


​With 12,000 students and 800 jobs in the balance, the court’s decision on this procedural matter would seem critical.
